First Steps

Wizard - Ezren (Small)Welcome to Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

We’re glad you decided to give it a try.

Here are three things that everyone will need to do when starting in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, whether you are going to Play or GM:

  1. Sign up on Paizo.com and obtain your PFS number.
  2. Download and Read the free Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play
  3. Purchase your copy of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, in PDF or Physical form

Creating an account on Paizo.com, and getting your Pathfinder Society ID Number, is your very first step to begin playing in Pathfinder Society Organized Play.  This ID number will be used for every game you play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, and will be used to credit each game you GM as well.  After you create your account you can return to the My Pathfinder Society page to see the games you have played and GMed.

Next you will need to download the free Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. This guide describes the rules for creating legal PFS characters, the way society play works, and the idiosyncrasies of PFS play in comparison to regular Pathfinder RPG play. You will want to make sure you read this guide before diving into PFS play.

Finally, you will want to purchase the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, if you do not already own a legal copy. You can purchase it as a PDF or a physical copy. Each player is required to own this guide as part of the PFS “Core Assumptions”. (The free Pathfinder PRD does not fulfill this requirement.)  You can purchase the Pathfinder Core Rule book directly from Paizo, or from your Friendly Local Gaming Store [FLGS].

That it’s – all you need to get your foot in the door.

Now you are ready to begin your journey as a Pathfinder Agent in the world of Golarion.

Your Next Step will be to Decide if you want to walk the path as a Player or as a Game Master.
